Mount Dora Patriot Cruise and Salute, November 6th, 2016
The Patriot Cruise and Salute in Mount Dora is an organization
that treats wounded veterans and their families to an outing on Lake Dora &
the Dora Canal followed by a picnic lunch and patriotic program at Gilbert Park.
It is a way to say “thank you” for their service and sacrifice. Having heard
about the event last year I contacted Rozann Abato and Carroll Jaskulski who are
the local organizers and asked to participate, so this year we have donated one
of our boats for the event. It will be Captained by Randy Messineo a
veteran himself who has volunteered his time for the event, and crewed by
myself (Tudor).
This year’s event will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2016
at Gilbert Park in Mount Dora. The public is invited to come to the
boat docks at Grantham Point Park at 12:00 PM to welcome the veterans back to
shore. Bring an American flag to wave and show your respect and
gratitude!!

Educational Field Trip for First Academy of Leesburg
Yesterday, The exchange students from First Academy in Leesburg came out on a field trip to see the local wildlife of Florida. We saw a Bald Eagle, baby and adult alligators, 4 varieties of heron, both common & Snowy egrets (the ones with the golden slippers, like Usain Bolt) and a variety of other birds. Through our translator Paul, we were able to pass on many interesting facts about the wildlife and the local area. Everyone had a great time, especially when they all took a turn at driving the boat!
