Amended Tour Schedule due to high water levels after Hurricane Irma

The torrential rain that came with Hurricane Irma has meant that the water level on The Harris Chain of Lakes has risen by over 12 inches! This means that unfortunately our boats are too tall to make it under the low bridges that allow us access to the Dora Canal from Lake Dora. We do have access to the Dora Canal from Lake Eustis (the highway 441 bridge is much higher) So we have split our fleet of boats and will be running from 2 locations until the water level subsides. We will be running 1 hour tours on Lake Dora & Lake Beauclair from Lakeside Inn (In Mount Dora) and 90 minute tours of the Dora Canal and Dead River from Hurricane Dockside Grill (In Tavares).

Mount Dora Patriot Cruise and Salute, November 6th, 2016

The Patriot Cruise and Salute in Mount Dora is an organization that treats wounded veterans and their families to an outing on Lake Dora & the Dora Canal followed by a picnic lunch and patriotic program at Gilbert Park.  It is a way to say “thank you” for their service and sacrifice. Having heard about the event last year I contacted Rozann Abato and Carroll Jaskulski who are the local organizers and asked to participate, so this year we have donated one of our boats for the event. It will be Captained by Randy Messineo a veteran himself who has volunteered his time for the event, and crewed by myself (Tudor).

This year’s event will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at Gilbert Park in Mount Dora.  The public is invited to come to the boat docks at Grantham Point Park at 12:00 PM to welcome the veterans back to shore.  Bring an American flag to wave and show your respect and gratitude!!
